how much of an impact Harry Potter has made in my life. It’s not simply a book or a movie, it really is my entire childhood and in a sense it saved me…
Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone was the first novel that I remember opening my eyes to a world so unlike the one we live in, allowing me to let my imagination soar alongside Harry and his friends and submerging me into this wonderful magical place where anything could be possible. It is the first film that I vividly remember watching as a child in the theater and being completely amazed by the fact that what I had pictured in my head for months was now right in front of me, for me to absorb and take in all its greatness.
When I say that Harry Potter was my childhood, I say that in the sincerest of ways. I cracked open the first installment of the book series when I was 10, and silently wept in the theater when I was 19 as I watched the closing credits of the last film. Never again would I await a new book or a new film. This was it, there would be no more anticipation for what was yet to come.
When I say that this series saved me, I say this in the most humble of ways. I owe this to one single line: “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” I will not go into detail as to what I mean by “being saved”, but I am so thankful for that one single line. I always will.
So I can sit here and pour my heart out and tell you all what Harry Potter means to me and people out there will still never understand, but that doesn’t matter to me. What matters to me is knowing that I have all these wonderful books and movies and stories and memories to share with my children one day and hopefully, one day, they’ll love Harry Potter as much as I ever could.
So I just asked Sarah if she likes Harry Potter and she said she’s only watched like 2 of the movies. Obviously, my heart broke a little since I LOVE Harry Potter. So without me even asking her if she would watch the movies with me she said, “Like, I would love to watch all 7…(are there 7 or 8 movies?) with you!”
No one has EVER offered to watch all 8 movies with me, ever. Let alone say yes when I asked them if they would watch them with me because they’re my absolute favorite and watching the movies with me would make me really really happy.
Take notes, people. Sarah knows where it’s at.
I love this kid! She’s gonna watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone with me and my little man <3
That is willing to watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone with me on Christmas Eve.
If you can do that one little thing for me I will love you.
Me: My sister is THE BEST! She started humming the Harry Potter theme song and then she said “Mimis, let’s play Harry Potter!” Now we’re listening to the theme song on repeat and playing with our “wands”.
Scout: “…I’m embarrassed..”
Me: “Ana knows how to speak French. She took Rossetta Stone.”
Ana: “I took French 1 and 2! Not Rossetta Stone!”
Me whispering to Ana: “Let’s meow to each other. It’ll freak her the fuck out.”
Me and Ana: “Meow meow meow meow meow meow.”
Scout: *shakes her head and looks at us like we’re crazy*
